Ides of March - Chapter 23
Amazingly enough, the base DID just look like it had before. Even his bed, untidied, rumpled sheets, was in the same spot, his almost empty last soda can just where he had left it. Several hundreds of miles away.
Shaking his head in wonder and no small amount of trying not to think about the impossibility of it all, the human moved over to his bed and let himself fall down onto the soft surface, sighing quietly. What a day it had been.
Strangely enough, the first thing that came to mind was: a successful one.
The day had been a success.
They had followed through with their plan and it had worked out just perfectly so far. Now the only thi
